Saved By A Hard Cover
April 7th, 2010We brought our library stories to City Hall and presented our book, Saved By A Hard Cover, to the City Council. We asked the city councilmembers to think outside the box, get creative and to use their imagination when they approach the imminent budget cuts that lie ahead. They seemed to listen to our plea to Save the Libraries. Now if only the mayor would!!!
Teen Voices Speak Out!
March 10th, 2010In response to the threatening budget cuts to our young adult library programs and librarians here in Los Angeles, we are staging a writing workshop at the Los Feliz Library on Tuesday, March 16th at 4pm where teens will write stories, essays, poems and create images about what the library means to them. We will then take the content created at the workshop and spin it into a hand-bound book that we will present to the City Council at a strategic time in the coming weeks.
Time is of the essence, and we have to generate the content quickly, so we’re calling for all ‘tweens/teens interested in being published in this book to bring their own pens, pencils, paper, notebooks and laptops… and their imagination… to the workshop.

INVESTIGATING CHARACTER
In this dynamic interactive writing experience, students are invited to think creatively on their feet and playfully discover new characters, both on their own and as part of a collective of young writers. A case file of the student’s missing character is uncovered during the workshop.
